Living and working in the the San Francisco Bay Area and having 3 adult children and 2 adorable grandchildren living in Los Angeles, we knew the Central Coast was the ideal location to find a halfway home to gather and celebrate holidays, birthdays, special occasions and enjoy the award winning central coast wines! we searched for over 5 years and finally found "the Perfect Spot" Hacienda Robles! the first moment we drove onto the 5-Acre property we knew the land, trees, home and architecture, spoke to us as no other home and property had. Three months later it was ours to share and the work began!

We began by cleaning up the grounds that had been neglected for close to 20 years.  it was important to us that this property be sustainable and so by Using well water for our irrigation we planted Agave and other drought resistant plants. We planted a stunning 150-year old olive next to the courtyard and lined the driveway with 100 30-year producing olive trees. We built and planted an organic vegetable garden, 1,000 lavender, 2,000 rosemary plants and different varieties of fruit trees. By using solar panels and solar lights we maintain a lifestyle by staying off the grid.

after researching marcel sedletzky's original Architectural drawings, the original house model, we brought back the beauty of his first vision of the house and the property. staying true to his design we used mexican saltillo and talaveras tiles and hand curved wood elements.

Hacienda Robles is featured in the book “Marcel Sedletzky: Architect and Teacher and displayed in the living room along with the original model.

Seventeen of Sedletzky's many designs were realized in distinctive and dramatic residences in the Central Coast from Carmel to Santa Barbara, His style was a blend of the forceful modernism and the organic fusion of form and drama. Hacienda Robles was the last house he designed.

we hope you enjoy our home!
